Dera Chief Ram Rahim Out On Parole Ahead Of Delhi Elections; To Stay At Sirsa HQ

Ram Rahim Singh Parole: Dera Sacha Sauda chief and rape convict Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has been granted 30-day parole.

He will be walking out of the Sunaria jail in Haryana’s Rohtak where he is serving a 20-year sentence given in 2017 for raping two of his disciples. The Sirsa-headquartered Dera Sacha Sauda has a number of followers in Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and other states. In Haryana, Dera Sacha Sauda has followers in many districts, including Sirsa, Fatehabad, Kurukshetra, Kaithal and Hisar.

Following his parole, Ram Rahim told his followers that he will be going to the Sirsa Ashram but they must not come to see him there. Whatever orders and messages are given to them, they should comply with them completely, Ram Rahim told his followers.

This is the 12th time Ram Rahim has come out of jail since 2017, it was reported.

In 2019, the Dera chief was also convicted for the murder of a journalist Ram Chander Chhatarpati more than 16 years ago, along with three others. In May 2024, the high court acquitted him and four others – Avtar Singh, Krishan Lal, Jasbir Singh, and Sabdil Singh – in the 2002 murder of the sect’s former manager Ranjit Singh.

Ram Rahim was last granted 20-day parole on October 2, 2024.
