“Always in Yellow”: MS Dhoni Affirms Unbreakable Bond with CSK Amid Retirement Buzz
As whispers about his IPL retirement grow louder, MS Dhoni has once again made it clear—his bond with Chennai Super Kings isn’t going anywhere. Speaking at a private event in Chennai on Saturday, the CSK icon and former India captain assured fans that while his playing future is still undecided, his heart will always beat in yellow.
“I’ve always said there’s time to decide,” Dhoni remarked. “But if you’re asking whether I’ll be seen in a yellow jersey—we will always be in yellow. Whether I’m playing or not is a different matter.” In words that echoed the emotions of millions of CSK fans, he added: “Me and CSK—we’re together. Even for the next 15-20 years.”
At 44, Dhoni has been the face of the franchise since the IPL began in 2008. In 2025, he returned to lead the team midway through the season after Ruturaj Gaikwad—initially appointed captain—was sidelined with an elbow injury. The season itself was one to forget, with CSK finishing at the bottom of the table, managing just four wins from 14 games. Yet, Dhoni’s mere presence, on and off the field, remained the emotional anchor for the team and its fans.
Many expected Dhoni to retire after IPL 2024, especially following knee surgery. But in true Dhoni fashion, he defied expectations with a surprise return in 2025. While his next move remains uncertain, one thing is clear—Dhoni’s legacy at CSK goes far beyond runs, trophies, or captaincy. It’s about loyalty, identity, and a bond that refuses to fade.
