Janmashtami 2025: Bank Holiday Status – Are Banks Open or Closed Today?

Janmashtami, also called Krishna Janmashtami or Gokulashtami, falls on August 16, 2025 (Shravan Vad-8). While celebrated nationwide, it is not a uniform bank holiday across India. The RBI designates bank holidays on religious or constitutional occasions, and while offline banking may be affected, online services like net banking, UPI, and mobile banking remain operational.
