Belgian Princess Cleared to Continue Harvard Studies After Trump Ban Blocked.
Princess Elisabeth of Belgium will resume her master’s degree at Harvard University after a US court halted the Trump administration’s attempt to bar foreign students from studying at American universities. The 23-year-old heir to the throne, enrolled in the Kennedy School of Government’s Public Policy programme, faced uncertainty when the ban was announced in May.
Xavier Baert, communications director for the Belgian Royal Palace, confirmed: “For now, all the conditions seem to be in place for the princess to continue her studies at Harvard.”
In June, a federal judge issued an injunction against the policy, which the administration defended as a move to curb what it called “politicised elite universities.” Harvard, home to nearly 6,800 international students last year, strongly rejected the allegations. The appeal is ongoing, but the injunction remains in effect as the new academic year begins September 2.
Princess Elisabeth, who will one day become Belgium’s first queen regnant, is entering the second year of her two-year programme.
