The entertainment industry continues to grapple with fake casting calls, where scammers exploit aspiring actors by impersonating industry professionals.
With social media making it easier to run such scams, Ekta Kapoor and her banner Balaji Telefilms have issued a strong warning to prevent misuse of their name. On Wednesday, Balaji Telefilms clarified that two Instagram users, Vishal and Pooja, operating under the handle pooja_castingdirector and claiming to be “Assistant Casting Director” at the company, have no affiliation with them. The statement read:
“Balaji Telefilms Limited hereby clarifies that these individuals are not connected with our organisation. We strongly condemn any attempt to misuse our company’s name or reputation to take undue advantage of aspiring actors.”
The production house emphasised that all legitimate casting is conducted exclusively through verified channels and urged aspiring talent to exercise caution:
“All casting for Balaji Telefilms projects is carried out solely through our official and verified channels. Do not engage with fraudulent accounts.” The warning was also shared on the studio’s social media accounts with the caption:
“Important Notice: Any account claiming casting authority outside our official channels is fraudulent. Your dream deserves safety. Don’t fall prey to fake casting calls. Always verify. #BalajiTelefilms.”
Kapoor personally reshared the notice on her Instagram story to reach a broader audience.
Alongside addressing the casting scam, Kapoor has been busy with creative projects. Earlier this month, she revived her iconic show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, marking its return after 17 years. The reboot features Smriti Irani reprising her role as Tulsi, alongside Amar Upadhyay, Ritu Chaudhary, Hiten Tejwani, Gauri Pradhan, Kamalika Guha Thakurta, Rohit Suchanti, Shagun Sharma, and Aman Gandhi. Since its July 29 premiere, the show has been performing well in the ratings.
Kapoor also announced the return of Naagin for Season 7, posting a message for fans:
“To all my darling Naagin fans, out of all my shows you guys are the most loyal and probably troll me the most! So for all you guys, here it is – NAAGIN 7.”
The cast for the upcoming season has not yet been revealed.
With this official warning, Ekta Kapoor and Balaji Telefilms aim to protect aspiring actors from scams and maintain the credibility of casting processes in the entertainment industry.
