Esha Deol on Separation From Bharat Takhtani: ‘I Don’t See Myself as a Single Mother’

Esha Deol has spoken candidly about her separation from husband Bharat Takhtani, stressing that she refuses to define herself with labels like “single mother.”

In a conversation with the YouTube channel Mamaraazzi, Hema Malini’s daughter explained her perspective. “I don’t like to think of myself as a single mother because I don’t behave like one, nor do I let the other person behave that way with me,” she said.

Esha shared that despite parting ways, she and Bharat are committed to co-parenting their daughters, Radhya and Miraya. “Sometimes in life, roles change. If a certain equation between two people doesn’t work out, especially when children are involved, both must take responsibility and create a new dynamic. Bharat and I do exactly that—we keep the unit together for the sake of our children,” she added.

The couple, who married in 2012, announced their separation in 2024 after 11 years of marriage. While they did not disclose the reason, their joint statement clarified that the decision was “mutual and amicable,” with their children’s well-being remaining the top priority. Meanwhile, Bharat Takhtani recently made headlines after sharing a romantic photo with Meghna Lakhani on Instagram, captioned: “Welcome to the family, it’s official.”
