Putin Calls for Faster Development of Rocket Engines.
President Vladimir Putin on Friday urged Russia’s aerospace industry to accelerate the development of booster rocket engines, saying the country must maintain its edge in space technology and compete on global markets.
During a visit to the Kuznetsov engine plant in Samara, Putin stressed the need to “consistently renew production capacity” for launch vehicles. He also highlighted Russia’s success in producing innovative engines for the energy sector despite Western sanctions, noting their use in gas transport infrastructure.
Putin linked aerospace advances to broader economic priorities, praising the planned Power of Siberia 2 pipeline to China as vital for gas exports. He also pointed to the new PD-26 aircraft engine, which he said would modernize military transports and support the development of wide-bodied civilian planes.
“This is an extremely important theme for our economy and defense,” Putin said.
