Russia Strikes Kyiv: Government Building on Fire, 3 Dead, Including Infant.

A fire broke out atop an administrative building in Kyiv’s Pecherskyi district following a fresh wave of Russian drone and missile attacks, according to Timur Tkachenko, head of the military administration of the Ukrainian capital. Thick smoke rose from the main building of the Ukrainian government, as the strikes caused extensive damage.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko confirmed on Facebook that this marked the first time the roof and upper floors of the government building were damaged in an enemy attack.

Tragically, an infant was among three people killed in the overnight strikes. Eighteen others were injured, and several buildings—including the government headquarters—caught fire. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that the assault began with drones and was followed by missile strikes.

State emergency officials noted that fires erupted on two of the four stories of a residential building in the targeted district. In the Sviatoshynskyi district, parts of a nine-story building were partially destroyed. Debris from downed drones also sparked fires in a 16-story building and two nine-story buildings, Klitschko added.

Timur Tkachenko accused Russia of “deliberately and consciously striking civilian targets,” highlighting the indiscriminate nature of the attacks.

Meanwhile, dozens of explosions were reported in the central Ukrainian city of Kremenchuk, causing localized power outages, according to Mayor Vitalii Maletskyi. In the Kryvyi Rih region, Russian strikes damaged transport and city infrastructure, though no casualties were reported, said local military head Oleksandr Vilkul.
