CBFC Clears Jolly LLB 3 With U/A Certificate After Scene Changes.

The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has granted a U/A certificate, with a 16+ rating, to Akshay Kumar and Arshad Warsi’s upcoming film Jolly LLB 3 on September 2. The board asked the makers to implement several modifications, none of which affect the film’s core story.

Key Changes Made

  • The old disclaimer was removed and replaced with a new one.
  • Alcohol brands were blurred wherever they appeared.
  • A scene showing police assaulting an old man was modified.
  • The logo on a file carried by Seema Biswas’ character Janaki was blurred.
  • A dialogue in the second half was changed to: “Janki amma ka gaon sirf ek…cheque muh pe fek ke mara.”
  • Profanity was removed from the film.
  • After these edits, the CBFC cleared the movie. The final runtime is 157 minutes (2 hours and 37 minutes).

Controversy and PIL
A public interest litigation (PIL) has been filed in the Madhya Pradesh High Court against Jolly LLB 3, alleging that its song Bhai Vakeel Hai disrespects the judiciary. The PIL, filed by a Jabalpur-based lawyer, objects to lyrics like “fikar na kar tera bhai vakeel hai” and claims that references to “package deals” and “judge ko mamu banana” insult the Indian judicial system. It also questions the depiction of actors dancing in lawyers’ gowns and black coats.

About the Film
Jolly LLB 3 is the latest in the popular franchise. The first film (2013) starred Arshad Warsi and Saurabh Shukla, while the 2017 sequel featured Akshay Kumar and Huma Qureshi. Directed by Subhash Kapoor and produced by Star Studio18, the third installment also stars Saurabh Shukla, Huma Qureshi, Amrita Rao, and Gajraj Rao. The film is set to release on September 19.
