AOC Condemns Charlie Kirk’s Murder, Criticizes His Ideology.
US Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez opposed a resolution honoring Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, condemning his murder but sharply criticizing his beliefs.
Speaking on the House floor, Ocasio-Cortez called Kirk’s death at Utah Valley University on September 10 “horrific and vile” but said it was important to remember his ideology. She highlighted Kirk’s past statements, including opposition to the Civil Rights Act and controversial remarks after the attack on Paul Pelosi, calling his views “ignorant, uneducated and aimed at disenfranchising millions of Americans.”
Ocasio-Cortez also accused Republican lawmakers of pushing the resolution for partisan purposes rather than uniting Congress. The measure, which praised Kirk as a “devoted Christian, dedicated husband, and loving father,” was opposed by 57 Democrats, including Ilhan Omar, Rashida Tlaib, and Maxine Waters.
