Bank Holidays This Week: Durga Puja, Dussehra, Gandhi Jayanti Closures

Banks across India will remain closed on several days between late September and early October 2025 for Durga Puja, Dussehra, Gandhi Jayanti, and other regional festivals. In addition to these, banks observe weekly offs on all Sundays and the second and fourth Saturdays.

Key closures this week:

Sept 29: Maha Saptami – Agartala, Kolkata, Guwahati

Sept 30: Maha Ashtami/Durga Ashtami – Bhubaneswar, Jaipur, Patna, Ranchi, and others

Oct 1: Dussehra, Ayudha Pooja, Durga Puja – Tripura, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Assam, Bihar, Jharkhand

Oct 2: Gandhi Jayanti – nationwide; also Dussehra and Durga Puja in several states

Oct 3–4: Durga Puja (Dasain) – Sikkim

Oct 5: Sunday – regular closure

Digital services remain available: ATMs, mobile banking, and online transactions will function as usual, though cheque clearance, RTGS, and NEFT may be delayed. Customers are advised to plan in-person transactions ahead of holidays.

  • SBI, Bank of India, PNB: 10 am – 4 pm
  • ICICI, HDFC, Axis, Yes Bank, Kotak: 9:30 am – 3:30/4:30 pm
  • Bank of Baroda: 9:45 am – 4:45 pm / 10 am – 5 pm
  • Canara Bank: 10 am – 3:30 pm
