Tensions flared along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district late Monday, with firing and explosions reported in the Machil and Dudniyal sectors during a suspected infiltration attempt. Two terrorists were killed by security forces.
Troops detected suspicious movement near Machil, prompting an immediate response and an exchange of fire. In Dudniyal, several blasts were reported, indicating a possible coordinated effort. Flares were used to monitor the area.
The Indian Army said: “Troops observed suspicious movement along the LoC in Kupwara around 7 PM and fired in response. Operations are ongoing.”
The incidents come amid heightened alert along the LoC following recent ceasefire violations and increased cross-border militant activity.
