Veteran actor Satish Shah passed away on October 25 at approximately 2:30 pm at Mumbai’s Hinduja Hospital.
He was 74. Known for his unforgettable performances in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, and Main Hoon Na, Shah had been battling kidney-related complications and had recently undergone a transplant, according to his manager, who confirmed the news to The actor’s body remains at the hospital, with funeral arrangements scheduled for Sunday.
Over a career spanning more than four decades, Shah became a household name, leaving an indelible mark on both films and television. He gained cult status with his role in the 1983 satire Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, where he showcased his versatility by portraying multiple characters with flawless comic timing.
His filmography reads like a list of Bollywood classics, including Hum Saath-Saath Hain, Main Hoon Na, Kal Ho Naa Ho, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and Om Shanti Om, highlighting his ability to adapt to a variety of genres with ease.
On television, Shah’s portrayal of Indravadan Sarabhai in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai remains one of the most iconic comedic performances in history. He also charmed audiences in the 1984 sitcom Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, a show that became a cultural touchstone of its time.
