Vartika Singh Transitions from Miss Universe India to Bollywood with Haq.

From gracing the pageant stage to stepping onto the silver screen, Vartika Singh, former Miss Universe India and acclaimed supermodel, is all set to make her Bollywood debut. She joins the star-studded cast of Haq, produced by Junglee Pictures in association with Insomnia Films and Baweja Studios, alongside Emraan Hashmi and Yami Gautam. The courtroom drama, based on Jigna Vora’s book Bano: Bharat ki Beti, is slated for a 7 November 2025 release.

Directed by Suparn Varma, Haq follows Emraan Hashmi as a sharp, determined lawyer, while Yami Gautam plays a pivotal role. Vartika Singh portrays a complex, emotionally layered character whose unpredictable arc forms a key part of the film’s narrative.

To bring depth and authenticity to her role, Vartika underwent rigorous preparation, including dialect coaching and improvisation workshops. These sessions helped her explore the subtleties of her character’s silences and emotions. Reports suggest her addition adds fresh energy to the ensemble cast.

A Story of Courage and Justice

Haq is inspired by the landmark Supreme Court case Mohd. Ahmed Khan vs. Shah Bano Begum. It tells the story of a woman who challenges societal norms and fights for her rights after being abandoned by her husband, sparking a nationwide conversation on faith, justice, and women’s empowerment.

Junglee Pictures’ official teaser introduces Shazia Bano, whose fight for justice lies at the heart of the film. The production notes:
“Haq is the story of one woman’s struggle for her rights, inspired by a landmark judgement that shaped India’s conversation on women and justice.”
