Bomb Threat Emails Sent to Rajinikanth and Dhanush; Tamil Nadu Police Begin Cyber Probe.

The Tamil Nadu Police on Tuesday confirmed that bomb threat emails were sent to the Chennai residences of actors Rajinikanth and Dhanush. The messages, received by the state Director General of Police (DGP) on Monday, claimed that explosives had been planted at their homes.

According to the Teynampet Police, which has jurisdiction over both residences, the first threat email concerning Rajinikanth was received around 8:30 am. Following the alert, a bomb detection and disposal squad was dispatched to his residence for inspection. However, the actor’s security team informed the police that no unidentified person had entered the premises, suggesting the threat was likely a hoax.

A second email was received later in the evening around 6:30 pm, but Rajinikanth’s team again declined a security sweep. Similar emails were also sent to actor Dhanush, who likewise refused police assistance, officials said. Police sources revealed that several high-profile individuals have been targeted with similar threat emails in recent weeks. The Cyber Crime Wing has since launched an investigation to trace the source of the messages.

“We are tracking the origin of the emails. The investigation is ongoing,” a senior officer said. Earlier this month, on October 2, the DGP’s office received multiple hoax emails claiming bombs had been placed at the homes and offices of several celebrities, including Trisha Krishnan and Sekher.

In a separate incident on October 9, police arrested a 37-year-old man for making a fake bomb threat to actor Vijay’s residence in Neelankarai.
