Ranveer Singh capped off 2025 on a record-breaking high as Dhurandhar continued its extraordinary run at the box office, emerging as the biggest blockbuster of the year.

However, the Aditya Dhar–directed action spy thriller is now set for a revised theatrical version, which will be screened from January 1, 2026. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, film distributors received an email on December 31 informing them about a new Digital Cinema Package (DCP) for the film. Quoting a source, the report said the changes were made after directives from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

“The reason for the change is that the makers have muted two words and altered a dialogue in the film, as per the directives received from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of India,” the source stated.

The revised version will be available in theatres nationwide starting January 1, 2026. The source further revealed that one of the muted words is ‘Baloch’. These modifications are not expected to impact the film’s box-office performance.

Released on December 5, Dhurandhar has shown remarkable consistency, underlining its mass appeal and strong word-of-mouth through the final weeks of the year. The film added a substantial sum on December 31, strengthening its standing among the highest-grossing Indian films of all time.

The blockbuster has already surpassed the lifetime collections of several recent hits, including Jawan, Kalki 2898 AD, Chhaava, Stree 2, Animal and Pathaan. With ₹722.75 crore in domestic collections, Dhurandhar is now eyeing the lifetime India total of SS Rajamouli’s RRR, which stands at ₹782.2 crore. Globally, the film has crossed the ₹1,000-crore mark, further cementing Ranveer Singh’s status as a box-office heavyweight.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh as Hamza, an Indian spy who infiltrates Rehman Dakait’s gang in Pakistan’s Lyari area to pass sensitive intelligence from within the ISI network to RAW. Akshaye Khanna essays the role of the antagonist Rehman Dakait, while Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan and Sanjay Dutt appear in pivotal roles. Rakesh Bedi and Sara Arjun feature in key supporting parts.
