Karur Stampede Case: TVK Chief Vijay Travels to Delhi for CBI Questioning
Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay has left for New Delhi to appear before the CBI in connection with the Karur stampede case. He was accompanied by his manager Jagdish and personal bodyguard, while TVK Joint General Secretary CTR Nirmal Kumar was also present at the airport.
Background of the Case
Vijay has been summoned as part of the CBI investigation into the September 27, 2025 rally tragedy in Karur district. The Supreme Court had ordered a CBI probe in October 2025 following the incident.
The stampede occurred during a TVK political rally on the Karur-Erode highway at Velusamypuram, triggered by a massive crowd surge. The tragedy claimed 41 lives, including 9 children and 18 women, and injured over 100 people, making it one of the deadliest political rally incidents in Tamil Nadu.
The investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances that led to the stampede.
