Tobacco Tycoon’s Son Arrested From Hospital 4 Days After Kanpur Lamborghini Crash
Shivam Mishra, son of tobacco businessman KK Mishra and the prime accused in the Kanpur Lamborghini crash case, was arrested Thursday morning from a hospital. He is expected to be presented in court later today.
The arrest comes four days after a Lamborghini Revuelto — an Italian luxury sports car worth over Rs 10 crore — lost control on Kanpur’s VIP Road on Sunday afternoon, hitting pedestrians and other vehicles. Six people were injured in the incident, including 18-year-old e-rickshaw driver Mohd Taufeeq, who later lodged a police complaint.
Disputed Driver Claim
During preliminary investigations, police identified Shivam Mishra as the driver, charging him with negligent and rash driving, endangering lives, and causing hurt by dangerous means.
However, dramatic developments unfolded Wednesday when a man named Mohan appeared in court claiming he was driving the Lamborghini at the time. Mohan alleged that Mishra suffered a sudden seizure inside the car, causing him to lose control. He said that the car’s auto-locking system forced him to move Mishra back into the driver’s seat after the crash.
Despite this, police maintain evidence — including videos showing Shivam in the driver’s seat post-crash — establishing him as the primary driver. Consequently, the court rejected Mohan’s surrender, requesting a detailed report from the police before further proceedings.
