Earthquake of magnitude 4.1 strikes near Bandar Abbas in Iran: USGS

An earthquake measuring 4.1 in magnitude struck west of Bandar Abbas on Saturday morning, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS).

USGS data showed the tremor occurred about 74 kilometres west of Bandar Abbas at a depth of 10 kilometres. Earlier this week, on Tuesday, another earthquake measuring 4.3 magnitude struck southern Iran. The quake was reported in Gerash, located in the southern part of Fars province.

According to the USGS, that tremor also occurred at a depth of about 10 kilometres (6.21 miles).
