With just 60 days remaining for the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup in England and Wales, the International Cricket Council has announced a record prize pool, signalling a significant boost for the women’s game.

The total prize money stands at US$8,764,615, a 10 per cent rise from the 2024 edition, where US$7,958,077 was distributed among 10 teams. The upcoming tournament will also mark a historic expansion to 12 teams.

The winners will receive US$2.34 million, while the runners-up are set to earn US$1.17 million. Both losing semi-finalists will take home US$675,000 each. In the group stage, every win will be worth US$31,154, and all 12 teams are assured a minimum payout of US$247,500.

ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta said the move reflects the rapid rise of women’s cricket worldwide, driven by increased investment and growing global interest. The governing body has also kicked off its Trophy Tour in partnership with DP World. The tour began in London, where the trophy was showcased at Lord’s Cricket Ground, the venue for the final.

From there, the trophy will travel across the Netherlands, Ireland and Scotland, before moving through host cities in England as part of fan engagement activities. The tournament will begin on June 12, with the England women’s cricket team facing the Sri Lanka women’s cricket team at Edgbaston Cricket Ground.
