John Cena pens emotional note remembering Asha Bhosle on Instagram

Some goodbyes are so quiet that they leave the world momentarily still. As tributes continued to pour in for Asha Bhosle, an unexpected gesture from across the world stood out—subtle, yet deeply moving.

The legendary singer, fondly known as Asha Tai, passed away at 92 in Mumbai after battling health complications. She was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on April 11 due to a chest infection and later succumbed to multi-organ failure.

Among those who remembered her was John Cena, who shared a photograph of the singer on Instagram. There was no caption—just a silent tribute that resonated widely. Fans quickly flooded the comments, many touched by the cross-border acknowledgment of a musical icon.

Former Australian cricketer Brett Lee also paid homage, recalling his collaboration with her on “You’re the One for Me” in 2006. He described it as a privilege, highlighting not just her artistry but also her humility and warmth.

Asha Bhosle’s career spanned over eight decades, making her one of the most versatile voices in Indian music. She moved effortlessly between classical, ghazals, cabaret, and pop, recording thousands of songs across languages. Her extraordinary body of work earned her recognition in the Guinness World Records. Alongside her sister Lata Mangeshkar, she helped define the sound of Hindi cinema for generations.

Born to Pandit Deenanath Mangeshkar, she began singing at a young age and went on to deliver timeless songs like Piya Tu Ab To Aaja, Dum Maro Dum, Chura Liya Hai Tumne, Dil Cheez Kya Hai, and Yeh Mera Dil. Her collaboration with R. D. Burman remains among the most celebrated partnerships in the industry.

Her last rites were held in Mumbai with full state honours at Shivaji Park. Earlier, her mortal remains were kept at her Lower Parel residence, where fans and members of the film fraternity gathered in large numbers.

Among those present were Uddhav Thackeray, Sachin Tendulkar, Riteish Deshmukh, and A. R. Rahman—a reflection of the immense impact she had across fields.

With tight security and traffic arrangements in place, Mumbai bid farewell to a legend whose voice will continue to echo through generations.
