After a sexual harassment and alleged religious conversion case linked to a Tata Consultancy Services-associated BPO office in Nashik came to light, police arrested seven people and claimed the alleged mastermind, Nida Khan, was absconding. However, her family has countered this, saying she is at home, not on the run, and is expecting a child.

Who is Nida Khan?
Nida Khan, 26, is among eight accused named in the case involving alleged sexual harassment and attempts at religious conversion of Hindu women employees. Police have described her as the key conspirator, but her family strongly denies the allegations.

According to her relatives, Nida joined the BPO in December 2021 as a telecaller—not in a senior HR role as claimed. They insist she was a junior employee with no authority.

“My daughter has not done any of these things. She simply went to work every day and got into trouble just for saying hello and goodbye,” her father said.

Born and educated in Nashik, Nida holds a commerce degree and is currently pursuing an MBA through correspondence. She got married last year and recently moved to Mumbai with her husband, while continuing her job at the Malad-based office.

Her family said they initially believed the case involved another person with the same name, and have since been under severe mental stress after learning she was named.

What is the case about?
The मामला surfaced after an FIR was filed by Nashik police based on a complaint from a 23-year-old employee. She accused a colleague, Danish Shaikh, of sexual harassment and entering into a relationship under the false promise of marriage, allegedly concealing that he was already married.

The complainant further alleged that Danish and another colleague, Tausif, tried to influence her religious beliefs, and also accused Nida Khan and Tausif of making objectionable remarks about a Hindu deity.

The investigation is ongoing.
