State Bank of India has informed customers that several of its key digital banking services will be temporarily unavailable for 45 minutes on May 9 due to scheduled maintenance.

In a post on its official X handle, the country’s largest state-run lender said services including UPI, IMPS, YONO, internet banking, NEFT and RTGS will remain unavailable from 1:45 am to 2:30 am IST.

The bank advised customers to use UPI Lite and ATM services during the maintenance window.

SBI said the temporary interruption is part of routine system maintenance aimed at streamlining and strengthening digital banking operations.

The lender has periodically announced such scheduled outages in recent months to upgrade services while giving customers advance notice.

Earlier, on April 21, SBI had alerted users about intermittent disruptions in some YONO SBI services, asking customers to rely on alternative digital banking channels until normalcy was restored.

The maintenance update comes as SBI continues to focus on strengthening digital infrastructure.

Speaking on the sidelines of the IBA Summit, SBI’s chairman recently said the next phase of growth for India’s banking sector would depend heavily on digital transformation, operational resilience and adoption of artificial intelligence.

SBI employees announce two-day strike

Separately, the All India State Bank of India Staff Federation has called for a nationwide two-day strike on May 25 and 26.

In a notice submitted to SBI Chairman CS Setty, the federation said the strike is aimed at defending employee rights, ensuring fair working conditions and safeguarding customer interests.

The union’s 16-point charter accuses the bank’s management of undermining job security and violating employee rights.

Among its key demands are a halt to outsourcing permanent jobs and an end to the alleged mis-selling of banking products.
