Compressed natural gas (CNG) prices in Delhi have gone up again, with rates increased by ₹1 per kg on Sunday — the second revision in just two days.
Following the latest hike, CNG in the national capital now costs ₹80.09 per kg, according to updated rates published by Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL). The fuel was priced at ₹79.09 per kg before the fresh increase.
The latest revision comes after CNG prices were already raised by ₹2 per kg on Friday, taking the total increase over 48 hours to ₹3 per kg. The repeated hikes are expected to increase travel expenses for commuters relying on CNG-run autos, taxis and personal vehicles across Delhi-NCR.

Petrol and diesel prices in the capital have also become more expensive. Petrol rates have risen by ₹3 per litre to ₹97.77, while diesel now costs ₹90.67 per litre after a similar increase. The fuel price hikes come amid concerns over global supply disruptions linked to tensions in West Asia and uncertainty surrounding movement through the Strait of Hormuz, a key international oil transit route.
Amid rising operational costs, auto and taxi unions in Delhi have urged the government to revise fares. In a letter to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, transport unions said drivers were struggling to cope with increasing fuel expenses.
The unions have demanded that the minimum fare for the first 1.5 km be increased from ₹30 to ₹50, while the per-kilometre rate should rise from ₹11 to ₹15. They have also proposed a waiting charge of ₹1 per minute and an additional ₹25 luggage fee.
However, the unions said the current night surcharge system — which allows a 25% extra fare between 11 pm and 5 am — should remain unchanged. If the demands are accepted, commuters in Delhi-NCR may soon have to pay significantly higher fares for auto and taxi rides.
