The United States has re-added Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur on the Palestinian territories, to its sanctions list, according to an updated notice posted on the US Treasury Department’s website on Wednesday.
Albanese had earlier been removed from the sanctions list in May, with the administration of Donald Trump describing the step at the time as a temporary measure.
The latest update from the Treasury website confirms that the sanctions designation has now been restored, although no additional explanation has yet been publicly issued regarding the decision.
