Iran Claims Retaliatory Attacks On US Military Sites In Kuwait, Bahrain Amid Rising Gulf Tensions

The conflict between Iran and the United States escalated sharply on Wednesday after Tehran launched missile and drone strikes targeting US military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain, describing the operation as retaliation for a recent American strike on Iran’s Qeshm Island.

Iran’s Armed Forces said the attacks were aimed at the US Fifth Fleet and a military air base in the Gulf region. According to Iranian state media, the operation was carried out in response to what Tehran described as US attacks on an Iranian telecommunications installation and an oil tanker.

The strikes mark one of the most direct confrontations between the two sides in recent months and have heightened concerns about regional stability and maritime security in the Gulf.

Kuwait Activates Air Defences

As the attack unfolded, Kuwait’s military confirmed that its air defence systems had been deployed to intercept incoming missiles and drones.

Residents in several parts of the country reported hearing loud explosions during the early hours of Wednesday. In an official statement, Kuwait’s General Staff clarified that the sounds were linked to interception operations being carried out by the country’s air defence units.

Authorities later issued a public advisory warning citizens and residents not to approach any debris, missile fragments or unidentified objects that may have fallen during the interceptions.

Military officials urged people to immediately report suspicious objects to emergency services and to rely solely on official government channels for updates.

Bahrain Issues Emergency Alert

Bahrain also activated emergency warning systems as tensions spread across the Gulf.

The Interior Ministry sounded warning sirens and advised residents to remain calm while moving to the nearest designated safe location. Authorities instructed the public to follow official guidance and avoid spreading unverified information.

Iranian state media later circulated videos that it claimed showed missiles travelling across Bahraini skies, although those claims could not be independently verified.

Iran Says It Fulfilled Earlier Warning

Iranian military officials described the strikes as a direct response to recent US actions and said they were acting on previous warnings that any attack on Iranian interests would trigger a stronger response.

According to statements carried by state broadcaster IRIB, Tehran accused Washington of targeting an Iranian communications facility and an oil tanker, prompting what it called a necessary military response.

Iranian officials said the latest operation demonstrated that future attacks would be met with a more forceful reaction.

US Denies Damage To Bases

The United States military rejected Iranian claims that its facilities had been successfully hit.

US Central Command (CENTCOM) said coalition air defence systems had intercepted multiple missiles and drones launched toward American positions in the region. The command maintained that no US bases suffered significant damage and dismissed reports suggesting that key military installations had been struck.

CENTCOM also reiterated that American forces remain fully operational across the Gulf.

Qeshm Island Strike Triggered Latest Escalation

The exchange follows a US military operation on Iran’s Qeshm Island earlier this week.

According to CENTCOM, American forces targeted what they described as an Iranian military ground-control station used for directing drone operations. The strike came after US forces intercepted several Iranian drones and ballistic missiles launched across the region.

The latest round of attacks has further intensified fears of a broader confrontation between Washington and Tehran, with Gulf nations closely monitoring developments amid growing concerns over regional security and the safety of critical shipping routes.
