Tanu Weds Manu 3 Officially Announced: Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan to Reunite for Next Installment
More than a decade after Tanu Weds Manu Returns released in theatres, Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan are set to return to the beloved romantic comedy franchise. The third instalment, titled Tanu Weds Manu: The Next Chapter, is scheduled to go on floors in 2026.
The announcement forms part of Eros Innovation’s broader plan to revive several popular titles under its Eros Universe banner. While detailed production timelines are yet to be revealed, the film is expected to begin shooting next year.
For fans, the biggest highlight remains the return of Kangana Ranaut and R Madhavan as Tanu and Manu. Their on-screen chemistry played a key role in the success of the first two films, helping the franchise become one of the most recognisable romantic comedy series in modern Hindi cinema.
This time, the project will be directed by Mitakshara Kumar, known for her work on The Empire and Heeramandi. It is being co-produced by Rudraksh Jyoti Soma Limited.
Although story details remain under wraps, speculation has already begun about Kangana Ranaut’s role. In Tanu Weds Manu Returns, she famously played a dual role as Tanu and Kusum Sangwan (Datto), a performance that earned widespread acclaim.
With the third instalment now in development, there is growing curiosity about whether the actor will once again take on a dual role—or possibly more. However, the makers have not confirmed any such developments.
Casting details are also being closely watched. Alongside the lead pair, fans are hoping to see familiar faces such as Deepak Dobriyal, Jimmy Shergill, Swara Bhasker and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub return, though no official announcements have been made.
The franchise began in 2011 with Tanu Weds Manu, directed by Aanand L Rai, which quickly gained popularity for its blend of humour, romance and memorable characters. Its sequel, Tanu Weds Manu Returns (2015), went on to achieve even greater success, particularly noted for Kangana Ranaut’s acclaimed dual performance and the introduction of the character Datto.
With filming expected to begin in 2026, further details on the cast, storyline and release timeline are expected in the coming months. The project marks one of the most anticipated franchise revivals in Hindi cinema.
On the work front, Kangana Ranaut will next be seen in Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, while R Madhavan has G.D.N. lined up.
