India wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has become the new No. 1 T20I batter in the ICC men’s rankings, replacing teammate Abhishek Sharma after a sensational ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign.

Kishan climbed to the top of the rankings for the first time in his career after scoring 317 runs at a strike rate of nearly 200 during India’s title-winning World Cup run. His match-winning innings against Pakistan in Colombo, which earned him the Player of the Match award, proved instrumental in his rise to the summit.

The left-hander is only the fourth Indian men’s batter to achieve the No. 1 T20I ranking, joining Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav and Abhishek Sharma. Abhishek, who had occupied the top spot for almost a year, slipped to second, with just seven rating points separating the two Indians.

Ireland’s players also made significant gains following their historic T20I series win over India. Lorcan Tucker climbed four places to joint 77th, while Ross Adair rose six spots to 84th among batters.

Left-arm pacer Matthew Humphreys registered Ireland’s biggest jump, moving to a career-best 25th in the T20I bowling rankings after taking four wickets in the two-match series. India’s Shivam Dube climbed three places to seventh among T20I all-rounders, while Ireland’s Gareth Delany and Harry Tector rose to 24th and 38th, respectively.

Travis Head tops Test batting rankings

Australia’s Travis Head has become the world’s No. 1 Test batter for the first time, replacing England’s Harry Brook at the top of the ICC rankings. Head moved to the summit after Brook and Joe Root endured a quiet outing in the Trent Bridge Test against New Zealand. Brook dropped to second, while Root slipped to third.

Several New Zealand batters were rewarded following the victory, with Rachin Ravindra climbing to seventh, Daryl Mitchell rising to 11th, Devon Conway jumping 14 places to joint 15th, and Tom Latham moving up to joint 31st.

India’s Jasprit Bumrah also returned to the top of the Test bowling rankings, overtaking New Zealand fast bowler Matt Henry.

In the all-rounders’ rankings, England captain Ben Stokes climbed to third, while West Indies pacers Shamar Joseph and Kemar Roach made notable gains after their performances against Sri Lanka, moving up to joint 14th and 17th, respectively, in the Test bowling rankings.
