Ayodhya donation theft case: Lawyers seek FIR against Champat Rai after protest march

A group of nearly 70–80 lawyers on Thursday marched to the Ram Janmabhoomi Police Station in Ayodhya and submitted a complaint seeking the registration of an FIR against Champat Rai, former general secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teertha Kshetra Trust, in connection with the alleged donation theft at the Ram Temple.

Chanting “Jai Shri Ram” during the protest, the lawyers demanded that police initiate criminal proceedings against Rai over the alleged irregularities in the temple’s donation collection process.

According to sources, the protesters breached police barricades while making their way to the police station to file the complaint. Police were deployed to control the situation, and the memorandum was later accepted by officials.

The move comes as the investigation into the alleged donation theft at the Ram Temple continues, with several arrests already made in the case. The lawyers have urged the police to widen the probe and fix accountability for the alleged irregularities.
