Anurag Kashyap Backs CJP Protest at Jantar Mantar, Calls for Voting Rights for Children

Support for the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP)-led protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar continues to grow, with several Bollywood celebrities speaking out in favour of the students demanding.

The resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap joined the chorus by sharing a powerful message on Instagram, which quickly went viral. Reflecting on the young protesters, Kashyap wrote, “What they don’t understand about the kids who’ve come down on the streets to protest is that they were between two and six years old when the Prime Minister came to power. All they’ve known is Congress-mukt Bharat, and they’re tired of it. They want answers, and they deserve them.” He ended his note by saying, “Kisi aur ko gaali deke iss baar nahin chalega. In bachchon ke sawaal poochne aur vote dene ka time aa gaya hai.”

Actor Saqib Saleem also condemned the treatment of protesters, writing that questioning those in power should never be equated with being “anti-national.” He said students seeking answers about their examinations, parents demanding accountability, and elderly citizens protesting peacefully should not be met with force. “You can disagree with every demand they’re making and still be disturbed by the way they were treated. That’s not politics—that’s humanity,” he wrote.

Adding her voice to the conversation, Aditi Rao Hydari urged compassion over political differences. Stressing that students deserve respect and a safe environment, she said meaningful progress begins with listening and dialogue, describing young people as the nation’s future.

Actors Imran Khan, Huma Qureshi, and Amol Parashar also posted messages of solidarity on social media, while veteran actors Shabana Azmi, Kunickaa Sadanand, Poonam Pandey, and Prakash Raj travelled to Jantar Mantar to join the protest in person. Musicians and internet personalities, including Char Diwari, Puneet Superstar, and Hanumankind, were also present at the demonstration, extending support to the ongoing movement.
