The Story Behind Shivpuri Dham

The origins of Shivpuri Dham are closely linked to the Naga sadhus of the Juna Akhara.

The foundation of the temple was laid in 1985, when Naga Baba Rana Rampuri established a spiritual camp in Thegda after arriving in Kota. Following a pilgrimage to Nepal, he envisioned creating a shrine with 525 Shivlings.

The first 12 Shivlings were installed in 1987, but Rana Rampuri passed away before the project could be completed. His disciple, Naga Baba Sanatan Puri, carried forward the vision.

After nearly two decades of dedicated effort, the temple was completed, and in 2007, all 525 Shivlings were ceremonially consecrated following a grand 111-kund Mahayagya, officially opening the shrine to devotees.

A Temple Shaped Like a Sacred Symbol

From an aerial view, the entire temple complex forms the shape of a Swastika, a revered symbol in Hinduism representing good fortune, harmony and positive energy. The structure rests on 101 pillars, carefully planned to preserve this symbolic design.

At the centre stands a towering idol of Lord Pashupatinath, surrounded by the 525 Shivlings. The temple also houses a Sahastralinga, featuring numerous miniature Shivlings carved into a single structure, along with a revered Ashtadhatu Shivling, both of which attract devotees throughout the year.
