Randeep Hooda Joins Flood Relief Mission in Assam, Serves Langar to Displaced Families

Actor Randeep Hooda has joined relief efforts in flood-ravaged Assam, volunteering to distribute food and essential supplies to families displaced by the devastating floods in Sivasagar district.

Partnering with humanitarian organisation Global Sikhs, Hooda on Saturday visited relief camps and the Sivasagar railway station, where many flood-affected residents have taken shelter. The actor helped distribute ration kits, served meals through a community langar and interacted with people affected by the disaster.

He later visited Gurudwara Sahib in Sivasagar and offered prayers for the safety and recovery of those impacted by the floods.

Speaking to reporters, Hooda said helping people during times of crisis is a collective responsibility.

“Many affected families from nearby villages have taken shelter here at the railway station. We have been preparing and serving food here every day for the past week. Humanity comes before everything else. I’ve worked with Global Sikhs for many years, and their commitment on the ground is extraordinary. I appeal to everyone to contribute in whatever way they can—not just in Assam, but wherever people are facing hardship. It is our duty as human beings to help one another.”

Hooda said the relief effort extends beyond food distribution, with volunteers identifying families who are still waiting for assistance and providing them with essential supplies.

“The team has assessed what people need the most. Right now, priorities include food, mattresses, tarpaulins and other basic necessities. We are preparing relief kits and ensuring they reach those who haven’t received help yet.”

The actor recently received the National Film Award for directing Swatantrya Veer Savarkar.

Assam Floods Continue to Ravage the State

According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the floods have claimed 82 lives so far and displaced millions of people across the state.

Meanwhile, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday thanked industrialist Gautam Adani for contributing ₹11 crore to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support relief and rehabilitation efforts for flood-affected communities.
