Iran Warns of Fresh Attacks on US Bases Across Gulf if Washington ‘Makes a Mistake’

Iran has issued a fresh warning that US military bases and interests across the Middle East could be targeted if Washington launches another attack on Tehran, as tensions remain high over the conflict and the future of the Strait of Hormuz.

The warning from Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters comes as diplomatic efforts continue over Tehran’s proposal to reopen the strategic waterway and restart nuclear negotiations. Iran has been waiting for a response from Washington while diplomatic activity continues around the United Nations General Assembly.

Iran Issues Fresh Warning

Iran’s semi-official Mehr news agency reported that the country’s top operational military command said all US military deployment centres and interests in the region would be targeted if Washington “makes a mistake” against Iran.

Tehran has previously warned that renewed US military action could lead to retaliation against American facilities in the region. The Khatam al-Anbiya command has also cautioned countries assisting US military operations that they could be treated as parties to the conflict.

The latest statement comes as increased military activity in the region raises concerns about a possible escalation, despite ongoing diplomatic contacts.

Seven-Day Plan to Reopen Strait of Hormuz

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said Tehran is willing to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days and resume nuclear talks if the United States meets certain conditions.

Iran’s proposal calls for Washington to lift its blockade of Iranian ports, ease sanctions and agree to a ceasefire. Tehran has argued that these steps could facilitate the restoration of normal shipping through the vital waterway.

The Strait of Hormuz is a major route for international oil and gas shipments, making its reopening a key issue in any effort to reduce tensions. Iran’s proposal, however, depends on reciprocal action from the United States.

Trump Reportedly Rejects Ceasefire Proposal

The diplomatic push has reportedly suffered a setback. The Wall Street Journal reported that US President Donald Trump rejected Iran’s seven-day ceasefire proposal and told aides that he expects US bombing of Iran to resume after the November midterm elections, citing US officials.

Trump has publicly suggested that Tehran wants a deal, while US officials cited by the newspaper said he remains sceptical that Iran would accept Washington’s demands regarding its nuclear programme.

The reported disagreement leaves the two sides divided over the conditions for a possible agreement.

Hormuz and US Bases Remain Key Flashpoints

Iran has said it does not intend to start a war but has warned that it will respond if attacked. The latest threat comes amid uncertainty over the next phase of US-Iran diplomacy and the possibility of renewed military action.
