Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi’s Ramayana Event Postponed Amid Maharashtra Drought

A much-awaited event celebrating Ramayana in Maharashtra has been postponed as the state faces a severe drought. The programme was scheduled to take place in Ramtek on October 11, coinciding with the first day of Navratri, and was expected to feature several members of the film’s cast.

Maharashtra MLA Ashish Jaiswal confirmed the postponement in a video shared on Instagram. Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Ravie Dubey were among the actors expected to attend the event, which was reportedly planned to include the launch of a song from Ramayana Part 1.

Ashish Jaiswal Announces Postponement

In his Instagram post, Jaiswal said the grand interaction programme with the Ramayana team had been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances. He explained that the event was intended to highlight Ramtek’s religious importance and its association with Lord Ram.

The MLA noted that the programme had been planned to showcase the significance of the place, believed to be connected with Lord Shri Ramchandra’s journey.

Farmers’ Welfare Takes Priority Amid Drought

The postponement comes as Maharashtra grapples with a severe drought. Jaiswal said supporting farmers during the challenging period was a priority and that the issue had been discussed with the film’s team. He added that the team was willing to extend assistance to farmers facing difficulties.

Jaiswal also thanked social media influencers who had helped promote the event.

Ramtek was selected as the venue because of its religious significance. However, the organisers have not announced a new date, and it remains uncertain whether the planned song launch will be held online or at a rescheduled gathering. The film’s makers have not yet issued an official statement.

Ramayana Reportedly Set for Two US Versions

Separately, Ramayana has made headlines following reports that the film will be released in the United States in two versions with different runtimes.

According to Variety India, listings on American theatre chain AMC’s website show the Hindi version running for three hours and 15 minutes. The English-language version, titled Ramayana: Rise of a Legend, is listed at two hours and 45 minutes.

Both versions are reportedly scheduled to arrive in US theatres on November 5. If the listings are accurate, the English cut will be 30 minutes shorter than the Hindi version. The filmmakers have not officially confirmed the reported runtime difference.

Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi Lead Ramayana Part 1

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, Ramayana Part 1 stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. Ravie Dubey is also part of the film’s cast.

The ambitious adaptation of the Indian epic is among the most anticipated upcoming releases. Reports suggest that the film could reach theatres on November 5, 2026, shortly before Diwali, with paid previews potentially scheduled for November 4. An official confirmation of the release and preview schedule is still awaited.
