CJP Chief Abhijeet Dipke Detained Ahead of Delhi Protest; AISA Leader Neha Bora Released
Delhi Police took Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke into preventive custody on Friday, October 16, ahead of planned protests in the national capital. Meanwhile, All India Students’ Association (AISA) president Neha Bora was released after police completed the required formalities.
Dipke was detained under Sections 126 and 170 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Police said he had been served two notices directing him not to visit Central Park in Connaught Place but allegedly failed to comply.
According to police sources, officials plan to inform the Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) that Dipke had violated an earlier peace bond of ₹50,000, which required him to maintain good behaviour for one year.
The CJP alleged that Dipke was taken to an undisclosed location and denied access to legal assistance. The party also claimed that he was carrying the national flag at the time of his detention. Dipke reportedly wrote to the Station House Officer of Mandir Marg police station seeking information about his whereabouts and the legal grounds for his arrest.
Bora was also detained ahead of the planned demonstration. AISA alleged that she was moved between locations in Delhi for nearly five hours and was denied access to lawyers and medication while at the RK Puram police station. Police later released her after completing formalities under Section 65 of the Delhi Police Act.
The latest detentions follow the arrest of CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka earlier in the week. Both were sent to Tihar Jail for five days over alleged violations of peace-bond conditions and trespassing at Jantar Mantar.
