Abhijeet Dipke Says CJP Will Reassess Anti-CEC Protest Strategy After Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka’s Release

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has announced that the organisation will regroup and formulate its next course of action after spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka are released from custody. The statement comes amid demonstrations in Delhi against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Election Commission of India’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

According to news agency ANI, Dipke said CJP members would meet to review recent developments and decide how to continue their campaign. He alleged that the arrests and detentions of party members were intended to intimidate the organisation.

“Once Saurav and Ashu come, we will gather, restrategise, and determine how to move forward,” Dipke said.

He added that the organisation would not retreat despite the recent developments, describing the campaign as a long battle. Dipke also expressed hope that both members would be released soon.

Dipke Gets Conditional Bail After Detention

Dipke was granted conditional bail on Saturday, a day after he was detained and subsequently arrested while heading towards Connaught Place in New Delhi.

The CJP founder had called for a ‘Lehra Do Tiranga’ march on Friday, October 16, at 5 pm. However, Delhi Police reportedly served him a notice shortly before the scheduled demonstration, asking him not to participate.

Dipke nevertheless proceeded towards Connaught Place on Friday evening, where police detained him. His subsequent release on conditional bail marked a significant development for the organisation as it continued to seek the release of its other members.

Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka Still in Custody

CJP spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka remained in custody following their detention in connection with the protests.

A Special Executive Magistrate had reportedly ordered five days of judicial custody for the two on Wednesday, a day after they allegedly entered the Jantar Mantar protest site despite restrictions.

Reacting to their continued detention, Dipke posted a message on X on Saturday expressing his desire for their release.

“Now just waiting for my brothers to be free…” he wrote.

The organisation plans to discuss its next steps once the two members return, according to Dipke.

What Is Behind the Anti-CEC Protests?

The demonstrations are part of a campaign against CEC Gyanesh Kumar over allegations of irregularities in the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.

The SIR exercise has triggered objections from Opposition leaders and protest groups, who have raised concerns about the revision process and its potential impact on voters. The Election Commission’s handling of electoral roll revisions has consequently become a subject of political debate.

CJP has joined the campaign by organising demonstrations and demanding accountability over the alleged irregularities.

Dipke’s latest remarks suggest that the organisation intends to review its approach following the recent arrests and detentions. Its next course of action is expected to be decided after a meeting with members, including Das and Ranka, once they are released.
