Aamir Khan: “I Can’t Act in Every Film, That’s Why I Produce”

Superstar Aamir Khan on Wednesday opened up about why he is focusing more on producing films rather than taking on lead roles. Speaking at an Agenda Aaj Tak session in New Delhi, the 60-year-old said, “Although I enjoy acting more, I can’t do every film by myself. Production has its own fun and allows me to be part of exciting stories.”

Aamir, who recently starred in “Sitaare Zameen Par”, a follow-up to his 2007 hit “Taare Zameen Par”, said he has been reading scripts and picking projects that interest him.

The actor confirmed he is producing 3–4 films set to release next year, including:

  • “Ek Din”, starring his son Junaid Khan and South actress Sai Pallavi.
  • “Happy Patel”, featuring Vir Das and Mona Singh, releasing in January.
  • “Lahore 1947”, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and starring Sunny Deol.

Aamir shared a light-hearted note about Mona Singh, who played his mother in “Laal Singh Chaddha”, saying, “In ‘Happy Patel’, I play her father.”

By taking on the producer’s role, Aamir aims to stay creatively involved while balancing acting with his passion for storytelling.
