‘Embarrassment to India’: Abhijeet Dipke Slams PM Modi After Release From Detention
Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) convener Abhijeet Dipke launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi after his release from detention, describing him as an “embarrassment to India” and accusing him of being a coward and a bully.
In a post on X early Sunday, Dipke wrote, “Modi, as PM, is an embarrassment to India. Never has this country seen a bigger coward and bully.”
The remarks came shortly after an executive magistrate ordered Dipke’s release along with CJP co-conveners Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. The three leaders had been detained by Delhi Police at Indira Gandhi International Airport on Saturday and were released after nearly 24 hours in custody.
The party has announced a press conference for 2 pm on Sunday and reiterated its intention to continue protesting against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar following Saturday’s police crackdown.
CJP Leaders Released After Nearly 24 Hours
Dipke, Das and Ranka were detained inside an aircraft shortly after it arrived in Delhi on Saturday.
According to people familiar with the matter, Air India flight AI 2428 landed at 10:18 am before being directed to remote bay R12. The move followed a request from the airport’s Airside Operations Control Centre to air traffic control.
An executive magistrate subsequently ordered the release of all three leaders. However, the release reportedly came with a condition that they must not breach the peace for one year, according to the CJP’s legal head.
Dipke’s remarks against the prime minister followed soon after the release order, as the party prepared to resume its campaign.
Delhi Police Tightens Security Ahead of Fresh Protest
Delhi remained under heightened security on Sunday, with police announcing restrictions across central areas, keeping Jantar Mantar closed to protesters, barricading the city’s borders and diverting traffic at 30 locations.
The measures followed Saturday’s crackdown, during which an estimated 7,000 people were detained, according to reported figures.
The security arrangements also came ahead of a Supreme Court hearing on a petition alleging that authorities had violated the court’s directions by imposing a complete shutdown of metro and train services.
Despite the restrictions, CJP leaders said they would make another attempt to reach Jantar Mantar and continue their agitation.
CJP Says Protest Will Continue Until Demands Are Met
Ajinkya Shinde, who was designated to lead the movement after Dipke’s detention, said the party would not abandon its campaign.
Shinde maintained that the detention of Dipke, Das and Ranka would not deter the protesters and reiterated the demand for Gyanesh Kumar to resign.
The CJP’s agitation is centred on its opposition to the chief election commissioner’s handling of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
With the party vowing to continue its demonstrations and police maintaining extensive security measures, tensions surrounding the planned protest remained high on Sunday.
