Abhinav Kashyap Revives Allegations Against Salman Khan, Family Ahead of Dabangg’s 15th Anniversary.
As Dabangg marks 15 years since its release, director Abhinav Kashyap has once again spoken out about his falling out with Salman Khan and his family. Kashyap, who directed the 2010 hit that kickstarted the Dabangg franchise, claims that walking away from its sequel led to a campaign that sabotaged his career.
Criticism of Salman Khan
In an interview with SCREEN, Kashyap accused Salman of being detached from his craft. “Salman is not interested in acting and hasn’t been for decades. He just turns up. He is more invested in celebrity than cinema. He is a gunda (goon),” he alleged.
Kashyap further described the actor as “vindictive,” adding that the Khan family wields its industry influence to stifle those who resist them. “They control the system. If you don’t fall in line, they come after you,” he said.
Anurag Kashyap’s Tere Naam Exit
The filmmaker also drew parallels with his brother Anurag Kashyap’s experience during the making of Tere Naam (2003). According to Abhinav, Anurag left the project after disputes with producer Boney Kapoor and was denied proper credit for the story.
“He told me before Dabangg that I wouldn’t be able to make a film with Salman, but he didn’t spell out the details. He knew I would be bullied,” Abhinav said.
Salman Khan’s Response
Despite repeated accusations over the years, Salman Khan has chosen not to respond publicly. The Dabangg franchise, meanwhile, remains one of his most successful ventures, cementing his place as one of Bollywood’s biggest stars.
