Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday thanked the people of Bihar for delivering a resounding mandate to the NDA, saying the Assembly election results reflected the triumph of good governance and development.
In a message posted on X, Modi said voters had backed the ruling alliance after seeing its “track record” and its roadmap for taking Bihar “to new heights.”
“Victory of good governance has been achieved. Victory of development has been achieved. Victory of the spirit of public welfare has been achieved. Victory of social justice has been achieved,” he wrote, calling the verdict “historic and unprecedented.” He added that the mandate would motivate the government to serve the state “with a new resolve.”
Modi congratulated Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, LJP (Ram Vilas) chief Chirag Paswan, HAM founder Jitan Ram Manjhi and Rashtriya Lok Morcha president Upendra Kushwaha on what he described as an “unparalleled” victory. He said the NDA would continue to prioritise opportunities for Bihar’s youth and women while pushing forward with development and cultural revitalisation. “We will do even more for Bihar’s progress, Bihar’s infrastructure and Bihar’s culture,” he said.
The NDA is projected to cross 200 seats in the 243-member Assembly, well above the two-thirds majority mark of 162. The BJP has surged ahead in more than 90 constituencies, improving on its tally of 74 in 2020, while the JD(U) has nearly doubled its previous count of 43 seats.
