Minister Yadav Urges Turning Climate Promises into Action Ahead of COP30.

Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav called for the 30th UN Climate Change Conference (COP30), scheduled for November 10-21 in Belem, Brazil, to be a “COP of Adaptation” that translates global climate commitments into real-world solutions.

At the Pre-COP30 Ministerial Roundtable in Brasilia, Yadav stressed that COP30 should reaffirm multilateralism and accelerate tangible climate actions that directly benefit people. He highlighted adaptation as a priority, urging countries to adopt minimum indicators under the UAE-Belem Work Programme and the Baku Adaptation Roadmap.

Yadav also emphasised the need for increased public finance for adaptation, aligned with national circumstances, while cautioning against mechanisms that could weaken the Paris Agreement framework.

Reiterating India’s leadership in initiatives like the International Solar Alliance and the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, Yadav said COP30 must showcase equitable, action-oriented cooperation and deliver measurable results for people and the planet.
