Trump Shares AI Video Showing Obama ‘Arrested’; Gabbard Alleges 2016 Election Plot.

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has sparked a storm of controversy after posting an AI-generated video on Truth Social that depicts former President Barack Obama being handcuffed and arrested by FBI agents inside the Oval Office. The post comes amid fresh allegations from Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who has accused Obama and top officials in his administration of orchestrating a conspiracy to falsely link Trump to Russian election interference in 2016.

AI Video Fuels Political Uproar
The 45-second video opens with real clips of Democratic leaders—including Obama—stating that “no one is above the law.” It then cuts to AI-generated footage in which a fabricated Obama is arrested in the Oval Office while a smiling, similarly fabricated Trump looks on. The video ends with the AI Obama in an orange jumpsuit inside a jail cell, accompanied by the Village People’s song “YMCA.” No disclaimer was included to indicate the video was artificially generated.

Critics from across the political spectrum condemned the video as misleading and inflammatory, warning of the dangers of spreading hyper-realistic deepfakes in a volatile political climate.

Gabbard’s Explosive Claims
The video surfaced alongside explosive claims from Tulsi Gabbard, a former Democratic congresswoman who now serves as Trump’s Director of National Intelligence. At a press conference, Gabbard released over 100 documents that she says prove a deliberate attempt by Obama-era officials to “manufacture” the Trump-Russia collusion narrative.

“These documents provide evidence of how this conspiracy was directed by President Obama just weeks before he left office,” Gabbard said. “It was a calculated effort to distort intelligence in order to launch a years-long campaign to undermine President Trump.”

Gabbard alleged that senior intelligence officials “politicized and weaponized” raw assessments to build a false narrative that Russia helped Trump win the 2016 election. She said the documents will be referred to the Department of Justice and FBI for further investigation.

Background and Pushback
The allegations center on longstanding and politically charged debates about the origins and legitimacy of the Trump-Russia investigations. Gabbard claimed that prior to the election, intelligence assessments showed no indication that Russia intended or had the capability to interfere in the vote. A declassified intelligence memo dated December 8, 2016, reportedly stated that Russia “did not impact recent US election results.”

Obama and former senior officials have not yet publicly responded to the allegations. Meanwhile, fact-checkers and national security experts are urging caution, noting that intelligence analysis is complex, often disputed internally, and rarely conclusive on such matters.

Broader Implications
Gabbard, framing the controversy as a constitutional crisis, said the alleged misuse of intelligence was “not a partisan issue” but a threat to the integrity of U.S. democracy. “This should concern every American,” she said, “regardless of party.”

The viral AI video and Gabbard’s revelations have reignited debate about the use of synthetic media in politics and the unresolved tensions stemming from the 2016 election. Legal experts warn that AI-generated disinformation could present serious challenges in the run-up to the 2024 election, especially when shared by influential political figures.
