Air India Hong Kong-Delhi Flight Catches Fire After Landing; All Passengers Safe.

An Air India flight from Hong Kong caught fire shortly after landing at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Monday, but all passengers and crew were safely evacuated, the airline said. Flight AI 315 experienced a fire in its auxiliary power unit (APU) moments after it had parked at the gate and passengers were disembarking. According to an airline spokesperson, the APU fire triggered an automatic shutdown of the system as per design protocols.

“There was some damage to the aircraft. However, passengers and crew disembarked normally and are safe. The aircraft has been grounded for further investigation, and the regulator has been duly notified,” the spokesperson said. The incident is the latest in a string of safety-related episodes involving Air India aircraft in recent days.

Earlier on Monday, another Air India flight — AI 2403 from Delhi to Kolkata — aborted take-off after a technical snag was detected during the take-off roll. The aircraft, carrying 160 passengers, was halted and returned to the bay for mandatory safety checks. All passengers were safely disembarked, and the flight departed later in the evening after clearance.

In a third incident, an Air India flight from Kochi — AI 2744 — veered off the runway while landing at Mumbai airport amid heavy rain. The Airbus A320 (VT-TYA) reportedly experienced a “runway excursion” on touchdown. Visuals showed partial damage to one of the engines. All passengers were safe and disembarked in accordance with standard protocols.
