Amitabh Bachchan expressed immense pride in his son Abhishek Bachchan after he was honoured with the Best Actor award for “I Want To Talk” at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) 2025. Calling Abhishek the “honour of the family,” the megastar said that his son’s achievement was the greatest gift a father could receive.
Writing on his blog, Amitabh shared:
“The happiest father in the entire universe … Abhishek, you are the pride and honour of the family. You carry forward the legacy that Dadaji established, with hard work, resilience, and an unyielding spirit. Tum mujhe jitna giraoge, main apne parishram se fir khada ho jaunga – aur bhi uncha. You proved this with patience, consistency, and self-belief.”
Reflecting on the award, Amitabh added in Hindi:
“Melbourne mein tumhe sarvapratham kalakaar ghoshit kiya gaya. Isse bada uphaar ek pita ke liye nahin ho sakta!”
(In Melbourne, you were declared the finest actor. For a father, there can be no greater gift!) The veteran actor also recalled how in the past, his praise for Abhishek’s performances had been dismissed as “biased,” but said those doubts have now been silenced by respect and admiration.
“Years ago, when I praised a masterpiece of yours, I was ridiculed for paternal pride. Today, those scornful laughs stand silenced by applause and recognition.”
He concluded his heartfelt note with a message of love and pride:
“Winning is the ultimate answer to many doubts and chains. The price of victory is high, but so are the rewards. You proved that, Abhishek. With all my love … a very proud father and family.”
