Antara Banerjee Arrested After Alleged Razor Attack on RPF Officer Aboard Train

Model and web series actress Antara Banerjee, 31, was arrested after an alleged violent confrontation with Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel aboard the Aravali Express on August 12.

According to police, Banerjee was travelling to Surat for a shoot and had entered a reserved AC coach despite having a sleeper-class ticket. The dispute reportedly began when a passenger asked her to vacate a reserved seat and later informed ticket collector Harikesh Tripathi after she allegedly refused.

The incident unfolded between Borivali and Dahanu between around 9:30 pm and 10:50 pm. RPF assistant sub-inspector Yaminikant Mishra and constable Rajesh Kumar were called to the coach after being alerted about the dispute.

Police alleged that Banerjee verbally abused the officials and became aggressive during the confrontation. Mishra reportedly alleged that she then undressed, pulled out a razor and attacked him, causing injuries. Police also said Banerjee suffered injuries during the altercation.

RPF personnel reportedly secured the AC coach doors as the confrontation continued. According to the police version, Banerjee allegedly tried to flee by breaking a glass panel. She was eventually removed from the train at Dahanu station and handed over to the GRP.

Mishra also alleged that his uniform and mobile phone were damaged during the incident. The confrontation reportedly lasted for over an hour, leaving passengers in the coach shaken.

Banerjee was taken into custody by Borivali railway police the next morning. GRP inspector Kunda Gavade said eyewitness accounts suggested that the actress may have been distressed after failing to obtain an AC coach ticket.

An FIR was registered on August 13, with police booking Banerjee under multiple provisions related to allegedly endangering safety, assaulting and causing grievous harm to a public servant, and intentional insult.

Banerjee was subsequently served a notice and released on bail.
