Apple Cuts Jobs in Sales Team as Part of Strategic Overhaul: Report

Apple has joined other tech giants in cutting jobs, targeting roles within its sales division, according to reports.

Reuters on Monday said the company is reducing positions to improve customer engagement. Apple stressed that the layoffs affect a small number of employees, continues to hire in other areas, and allows affected staff to apply for new roles internally.

Bloomberg reported that impacted employees include account managers handling large business clients, educational institutions, and government agencies, as well as staff at Apple’s briefing centres for enterprise product demonstrations. The government sales team, which works with agencies such as the US Defense and Justice Departments, faced some of the largest cuts, following challenges from the recent 43-day government shutdown and budget reductions by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Apple has not disclosed the number of affected staff or their locations.

The move comes amid renewed layoffs across the US tech sector, with companies like Verizon, Synopsys, and IBM reducing headcount amid slower growth and cautious spending. While Apple has largely avoided the broad layoffs seen elsewhere, the step highlights mounting pressure in the industry to streamline operations and control costs amid economic uncertainty.
