Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir Issues Nuclear Threat to India from US Soil.

Pakistan’s Army Chief, Field Marshal Asim Munir, has triggered global alarm with remarks made during a visit to the United States, warning that Islamabad would “take half the world down” if faced with an existential threat from India.

Speaking at a black-tie dinner in Tampa hosted by businessman and honorary consul Adnan Asad, Munir declared: “We are a nuclear nation. If we think we are going down, we’ll take half the world down with us.” The comments mark the first publicly reported instance of a Pakistani nuclear threat being issued from American territory.

Munir also vowed to target any future Indian-built dam on the Indus River, saying: “We will wait for India to build a dam, and when it does, we will destroy it with ten missiles. The Indus river is not the Indians’ family property.”

In a metaphor that underscored Pakistan’s weaker position, Munir compared India to “a Mercedes coming on a highway like a Ferrari” and Pakistan to “a dump truck full of gravel” — adding that if the two collided, the car would suffer more damage.

The army chief used the platform to accuse India of “international terrorism,” citing the killing of a Sikh leader in Canada, the arrest of eight ex-Indian naval officers in Qatar, and the Kulbhushan Jadhav case.

During the visit, Munir met senior US political and military officials, attended the CENTCOM change of command ceremony, and held talks with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine. He also invited Caine to visit Pakistan.

This trip — his second to the US in two months — follows a June visit where Munir attended a private luncheon with former US President Donald Trump, resulting in announcements of expanded US-Pakistan cooperation, including an oil deal.
