Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah producer Asit Kumarr Modi has broken his silence once again on rumours surrounding Dilip Joshi’s alleged exit from the show.
In a recent interview, Modi clarified that Joshi’s absence was due to personal commitments and not a sign of his departure, dismissing the speculation as baseless.
“Whenever there’s news about TMKOC, it grabs a lot of attention. Sometimes sensitive or misleading things are written about the show, but I don’t pay much attention. If I started responding to every rumour, I wouldn’t be able to do anything else,” Modi said. “Recently, Jethalal (Dilip Joshi ji) wasn’t seen for a while because of personal reasons. That doesn’t mean he quit. The show can’t always revolve around one character.”
Rumours about Dilip Joshi and Munmun Dutta (Babita ji) leaving the show began after fans noticed their absence during the recent ‘Bhootni’ track. While other Gokuldham residents like Bapuji, Popatlal, Sodhi, Taarak and Anjali were shown vacationing in a haunted bungalow, Jethalal and Babita were missing — sparking fan speculation about their exit.
This isn’t the first time Modi has had to address such rumours. He had earlier told Moneycontrol that both actors remain a part of the team. “Social media has become increasingly negative. TMKOC is a positive family show that spreads happiness. People should think positively instead of spreading rumours over trivial things,” he said.
Reiterating that there’s no internal issue, Modi concluded, “Everyone is still part of our team. They were unavailable for some episodes due to personal reasons. There’s nothing more to it.”
