Axiom-4 Launch Delayed Due to Weather; Set to Carry India’s Second Astronaut

The launch of the Axiom-4 mission, which will carry Indian Air Force fighter pilot Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla to space, has been postponed by a day due to adverse weather conditions. Originally scheduled for June 10, 2025, the launch will now take place on June 11 at 5:30 PM IST from Launch Complex 39A at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center.

The mission, also known as Mission Akash Ganga, is a joint venture between ISRO, Axiom Space, and NASA, aimed at transporting the Indian astronaut to the International Space Station (ISS) for a 14-day stay. This marks India’s second human spaceflight, following the historic journey of Rakesh Sharma in 1984.

This is the fourth delay in the launch schedule, with the previous postponement moving the date from June 8 to June 10. Group Captain Shukla, 39, remains in pre-launch quarantine, a routine measure to safeguard astronaut health.
