Betting App Scam: ED Books Vijay Deverakonda, Rana Daggubati, 27 Others.

Actors Vijay Deverakonda and Rana Daggubati are among 29 celebrities booked by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with a money laundering investigation tied to illegal online betting platforms. Officials confirmed on Thursday that the case was filed under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and stems from an FIR registered by the Cyberabad Police based on a complaint by businessman Phanindra Sarma.

Celebrities Accused of Promoting Illegal Betting Apps
The FIR alleges that several actors, influencers, and YouTubers promoted illegal betting apps on social media in exchange for payments. These endorsements, according to the complaint, encouraged financially vulnerable individuals—particularly from lower and middle-income families—to participate in online betting, leading to major personal financial losses.

The ED has taken cognisance of the FIR and registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR). Notices are expected to be sent to all individuals named.
